    $400 Airline Tickets

Have you checked out the new show at Noon? I have moved time slots, and I'm such a goof, I forgot to tell you guys. Many of you don't have FBN, but ya gotta call your cable operator.

I'll put up some pics of the new set, a few "Behind the Scenes." I always like looking at how television works, maybe you guys are interested?

So, we end the show with Stuart Varney, and we do a "Best Guess". My guess today had people in disbelief. As in, they think I am nuts. You decide....

I think the average price of an airline ticket will be hovering at $400 by July. United, American, and Delta are all cutting capacity, and laying off workers. Those cheap tickets are going to be gone, and quickly. Of course the business traveler will suffer, because they book at the last minute, and that gives support IMO to the top line of my estimate.

For those of you that book early, even months ahead, take a look at what tickets are now and compare them to where they were just two months ago. A ticket I usually to buy to see family is now about 180 dollar more than it was just three months ago. And this is to Arizona! Believe me, airline prices to Phoenix are usually cheap cheap cheap in the summer.

    Thoughts?

Why not drive? Gas is cheap isn't it? Oh wait, that's right fuel prices have increased lately. You can't sell a shirt for $10 if it costs you $20 to make. Airlines are never going to suck up the cost just to fill the seat again. If the seats are empty and there is no cargo, the planes won't fly; that's that.

You are right the cheap fares are gone, look for higher fares and change fees to go up. Airlines do call their paxs, but over 50% of these people do not put their phone numbers in their PNR, so the airlines cannot call them, and some booked though a travel agent, and they are to blame too, they put their number in the res, and do not call their customer. So, it not all ways the airline to blame. Also, I hear all the time we paid 200 for these tickets and we didnt get anything on board, and it cost to chg my flight because I missed it, yes you do have to pay big time. So watch who you get your ticket from, these cheap web site will get you, pay a cheap fare and you want to change it, (even if you can change it) going to cost you in the long run. In closing, people cry for what TSA does to them, HAVE WE FOR GOT ABOUT 9/11, SO WHAT YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOU SHOES OFF, SO STOP CRYING. I guess its going to take another 9/11 to get the rules though their heads Ken

Its only fair that airlines start raising fares. Everyone else gets to charge the consumer for any increase in cost of doing buisness. If you look at airfares from 1985 until 2005, there was not a whole lot of difference in price. So remember this as the good old days because airlines can not stay in business with oil this high. Plus you will probably see at least one legacy carrier go under before the end of 2009. That will only increase air fares even more.

You can book way in advance to hedge your bets, but good luck with that flight schedule staying stable. You could be like my father and find out at the last minute that their flight was done away with and the airline put them on other flight numbers and times and never notified them. The airlines response...you can cancel this itinerary and rebook at today's price...with a $100 change fee!

You are right Cherly, I need to fly from LAX to El Paso,Tex and the price is $360. Much more than before. This is Southwest which should be reasonable. Like your new time slot but if I get it you are only one for an hour. But I'm sure they have you doing other stuff. I saw you on Sat doing Bulls or Bears. Love both Fox New and Fox Business. I guess I'm a Fox junkie.
