Dear Cheryl, I'll take your bet on parity of Euro vs Dollar by the end of this year. Of course I'm betting this will not be the case. How does 1000 euro's sound to you ? best regards, Johannes Belgium

Your story is intersting. But I feel Europeans in general are more used to strife and economic instability than what Americans do in the past. This current economic one was bound to happen in US and get its effect on Europe and other countries. This cycle of up and downs would repeat until it stabilizes. This is the essence of Open Market. Dollar may not be able to match Euro in the immediate future. They can get better of other currencies of the World. Cheers

Cheryl what a coincendence. I traveled to Spain,Italy, and Greece last summer. Are u following me LOL. I went at the height the Euro was strong in summer of '07. I went to Barcelona,Spain, walked the las ramblas; I experince a short layover return flight in Milan,Italy. But I walked the streets of Athens and I cruised on small power yacht in the Greek Isles. Did u visit Mykonos? What made my trip interesting the Greeks didn't deliver the luggage to the yacht,EasyCruiseOne. No matter I had fun anyway despite the lost luggage. I got it back when we returned to the airport on our Altalia flight back to Barcelona. Now the final leg of the trip was interesting. At Philadelphia International Airport it got real interesting too. I was suppose to catch a return flight back to Charlotte but guess what happened: the traffic control grid developed a glitch which affected all the flights. Us passengers shared information. We did learn the Atlantic traffic grid was down and it affected a majority of incoming flights. I had an oppertunity in my Cande Naste Traveler survey to put US Airways in the bad customer care. But a salesman from Syracuse,New York gave me complitment how I handed the delay. But that's what made my trip interesting. I cruised all over Catalonia,Spain. Now if you do a tourist return trip to Spain. Visit Gerona north of Barcelona, take a train there by the way. And visit Terragona which was the earliest Roman settlements in Spain and is now a bustling port. Just some wild Eurotravel ideas. I missed u by the way:)

My wife and I recently returned from Sweden, Denmark, and Ireland. We found it very interesting that many of the economic problems we are facing these countries are also facing. It's not just a USA problem. Despite all the government gives them many of the people we met complained about the amount of taxes they are forced to pay. You are right that the problems the European countries are facing are rarely reported on. The other thing we found interesting (and made us proud to be American) was the fact the everyone was very nice to us when they found out we were American. Folk went out the the way to speak to us and help us when we had a question. We encountered this same type of treatment a few years ago when we traveled to the UK, Italy, and Greece. Makes you wonder who the news talks to when you hear Europeans don't like Americans.
