A Best Guess I Wish Was Wrong

It was an unprecedented weekend here in New York.  As I went in to work last Wednesday, there were live trucks parked out front of Lehman Brothers.  As Shaps said to me on the air "it is never good when people want you to be on television, and not in a good way." Lehman, Oil, and Sushi

Oil is about to hit 100 bucks.  I think Thursday is the day, as long as Hurricane Ike stays south and away from those Gulf platforms, we are going down.  My best guess on the show today was by October 1st, you will see oil at $90.  In fact, it should be lower than that, but there are still plenty of pension and hedge funds that are investing in oil.  Does that bother me? Where Am I?

I thought that to myself as we covered the Fannie/Freddie rescue, er bailout, er whatever it is. What happened to our free market economy? What happened to "only the strong survive?"
