The Town that Jerry Built

One of the highlights of shooting my Opportunity in America series was interviewing someone I have idolized since I was a kid: Jerry Colangelo. He is credited with building Phoenix into the city it is today by his guidance of the Phoenix Suns and his stewardship in getting the Arizona Diamondbacks to come to the Valley of the Sun.

He spent almost an hour with us, and this is someone who had just come from a luncheon that honored him for his charitable work in Phoenix. He was sincere, forthcoming, and inspiring. (yes, I am gushing, sue me.)

Off camera, I asked him why he didn't just go buy and island and call it day. He said it was something that never crossed his mind, and probably never would. A little gossip for you: there is heavy speculation he is going to be the next NBA Commissioner.

Cheryl: I think Jerry Colangelo is terrific and quite frankly he should be the NBA Commissioner right now. Enjoy your work on FBN, as you ask the best questions and come across as the most knowledgeable person there. Thank you

Hi Cheryl, This is a different topic altogether, but one important enough to at least take notice of. If the new administration is truly sincere about winning back consumer confidence and improving an ailing economy; this is one solution, in my opinion, that has merit: President elect Obama should be willing to provide a low interest loan to the domestic auto manufacturers provided the CEO of each corporation is willing to have his/her pay and bonuses substantially reduced until the company they represent returns to profibility. I have been an Industrial Electrician for 24 years (employed by GM) and I am also (unlike Joe the Plumber) a licensed and insured Electrical Contractor. Sincerely, Delmar Davis
