AZ Cardinals Give Hope to My Hometown

My hometown team, the Arizona Cardinals could possibly make history this weekend, and win their first Super Bowl ever. When I was back in Phoenix for my Opportunity in America: My Hometown series, I interviewed Michael Bidwell, the President of the team (his father is still officially the Chairman, but Michael seems to be running the show).

I've spoken to Michael since then, and I really believe this team can make it happen this weekend. Why do I care so much? Because Phoenix, and the Case Shiller Index backed me up this week, is still the national symbol of the broken housing market. People in Phoenix are losing their jobs, their homes, and their spirits. But, then comes the Arizona Cardinals getting their first chance ever at the Big Game in Tampa. I remember sitting here in New York rooting against the Giants because I believed we could beat the Eagles (and we did) and thinking to myself if we just get to the Super Bowl it would revitalize Phoenix.

And, it has. I've never seen people so excited. My Facebook page is full of fellow Phoenix fans. If they win this Sunday, it could really be the boost my city needs.

Yesterday, we had a gentleman on the show to talk about the economic impact in Pittsburgh. To be fair and balanced here you go, but I still did a little trash talking at the end of the interview!

    Go Cardinals!

You, the people of Phoenix, all in the state of Arizona and especially the Cardinals should be proud of making it to the Super Bowl, but just as importantly how thoroughly professional they played. They may have faltered, but they never gave up. It an old saying that goes something like this, "It's not whether you win nor lose, but how you play the game" Always enjoy your performance. You too are a PRO

Cheryl, I can certainly understand and respect what you and all of the Arizona Cardinal fans have gone through over the years. I`m from Cleveland and we are disappointed EVERY YEAR! Our only highlight of this past season was crushing the Giants on Monday Night Football! This is Arizona`s year!!! The Steelers have never faced a high power offense like this and we`ll see how those pansies can cover Fitzgerald and Boldin!! The Cardinals will score 40 points by halftime! Great job on the show, I`m your biggest fan. I would like to look you up when I`m in New York again. Take care!

Chreyl: Kurt Warner took the St.Louis Ram to the superbawl twice (1999 and 2001). Its probably going to be his last game so he is going to make it worth while. Here in St.Louis our hearts are with Kurt and our old team the Cardinals. Best wishes.

Cheryl - I fondly remember when the Cardinals were in my hometown - St.Louis. I will proudly root for the Arizona Cardinals and Kurt Warner. There's a real St. Louis connection to this superbowl- Kurt was the quarterback for the Rams when we won the superbowl in 1999, I wish the Arizona Cardinals the same wonderful outcome! Go Cardinals!!!
