Red is Still My Favorite Color but...

We kicked off Red Ink Week last week, but our coverage will continue for the forseeable future.  I was able to do some press interviews last week for our efforts to get the ball rolling, and the two main questions I heard were "what is it" and "why is FBN doing it."  If you watch me enough on FBN, you know I love the color red (even Don Imus noticed I wear red all the time.)  So, red is still my favorite color, but the red ink our country is getting itself into is alarming.

We are facing a 1.8 trillion dollar deficit for 2010, and today the President and Vice President are again talking about stimulus.  (Well, I assume they are since I'm stuck in jury duty today. ) We as a nation are spending billions of dollars and the American taxpayer is becoming so overleveraged, I am one of the few people who is a little concerned about our country's rating, but I am in the minority on this opinion.  Now we are about to add more debt if my suspicions are correct about healthcare reform.  While we don't have specific details yet, I am concerned the price tag for this latest initiative is going to absolutely blow our current deficit out of the water.  With all the uninsured Americans out there, I have a feeling the numbers will be so big, the taxpayer won't think it's real money.  They will feel like they are playing a game of monopoly, and in some ways, that is what government is doing, spending money like it's a game.

So, that is the "why" of Red Ink, and I'm looking forward to asking more questions and challenging these enormous spending plans.  Lots of time to think about it today anyway.  Jury duty is so boring....

Cheryl, Congress doesn't even bother to READ these bills. Do you really expect them to do MATH??? Honestly, the only subjects they care about are JUNK SCIENCE and REVISIONIST HISTORY.
