    Best Guess: President Obama Edition

Today there was no Best Guess thanks to our President.  He took to the podium and the teleprompter about five minutes before our show ended when we usually bring in Stuart Varney.  Luckily, this is the blog for Best Guess: President Obama Edition!

JAMES LEBENTHAL/LEBENTHAL AND COMPANY: Best speculative buy right now: airline stocks Summer travel is picking up Oil prices have not equated with jet fuel price increases No one expects business travel to pick up but when it does, these stocks are an easy double: CAL, AMR, DAL. (CONTINENTAL, AMERICAN, DELTA)

TOM SULLIVAN: Apple will have a strong 3rd quarter due to its release of its operating system, Snow Leopard, in September. And, Microsoft, Dell, HP, etc., will have a strong 4th quarter with the release of Windows 7 on October 22nd.

CHERYL: The introduction of the new Blackberry is another thorn in the side of Apple. RIMM will continue to dominate the corporate handheld market, a place where Apple has not been able to get traction. RIMM is a stock to watch.

STUART VARNEY: massive drop in mortgage applications and re-fi activity....the spike in mortgage rates is hurting....

GREGG JARRETT/FOX NEWS ANCHOR: A UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE BILL, AS ENVISIONED BY PRESIDENT OBAMA, WILL FAIL TO PASS THIS YEAR.  TOO COSTLY, TOO CONTROVERSIAL, TOO MUCH OPPOSITION, AND NO CONSENSUS

WALKER #2: Hey, Cedric! Bob! This guy won’t wear a ribbon! New scene - Obama surrounded by Cedric, Bob, and the other walkers. BOB: So! What’s it going to be? Are you going to wear the ribbon? Obama (nervously): No! Never. BOB: But I am wearing the ribbon. He is wearing the ribbon. We are all wearing the ribbon! So why aren’t you going to wear the ribbon!? Obama: This is America! I don’t have to wear anything I don’t want to wear! CEDRIC: What are we gonna do with him? BOB: I guess we are just going to have to teach him to wear the ribbon! Obama: More benefits for gay workers only one stepJune 17, 2009 9:14 PM All Associated Press news WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama signaled to gay-rights activists Wednesday that he’s listening to their desire for greater equality in “a more perfect union.” But he didn’t give them even close to everything they want, bringing to the surface an anger that’s been growing against the president. “We all have to acknowledge this is only one step,” Obama said in the Oval Office, where he signed a memorandum extending some benefits, such as visitation or dependent-care rights, to the same-sex partners of gay federal employees. “When a president tells you he’s going to be different, you believe him,” said John Aravosis, a Washington-based gay activist. “It’s not that he didn’t follow through on his promises, he stabbed us in the back.”
