    Best Guess: United Nations Edition

Hello folks… is United Nations week here in NYC.  Pretty much we are under seige by the leaders of the world.  It’s very exciting, I just don’t like the traffic jams in the city.  Sixth avenue, in front of Fox News, is a disaster.  Security is tight, and of course with the new terror alerts, it always makes us a little uneasy just getting on the subway, or driving through a tunnel.  Still it has been fascinating watching the movements of our world leaders this week.  Now to some best guess catch up….

TOM SULLIVAN: The next big crisis for the Obama administration is how to deal with the record level of unemployed people.  It will increase the number of people without health insurance, more foreclosures, less consumer spending, more people on welfare and food stamps.  To support all of this will be a huge budget buster.

STUART VARNEY: Dell buys Perot systems. Why? Defensive….the market for desk-top and lap tops is not growing much. Computing power has passed to smart phones…Dell needs to expand in tech services and Perot systems does that….

LIZ MACDONALD: Administration is looking to raise the US debt ceiling again—the House’s proposed ceiling raise won’t last through 2010.  So politically smart Republican senators will raise it just barely  to last past the midterm elections in 13 mos, to force the White House to come back once again right before the presidential election—to show how fiscally irresponsible this Administration is

JIM AWAD: there is a lot of news this week with fed meeting UN. G20 and White HOUSE mideast meeting but it will all result in nothing as far as the markets are concerned.
CHERYL CASONE: Airline stocks will continue to fall through the end of the year.  Fall bookings and holiday bookings are several percentage points down from last year, and oil prices are still hovering above 70.  Neither good things for the industry.
