Best Guess: Catching Up With Balloon Boy

Sorry about “bloggis interruptus” but I have been having problems with Wordpress on my work computer.  I normally update you right after the show!  I’m blogging live from the old NYC apartment, and I wanted to post our best guess segment from last Friday.  I could not resist a best guess on “balloon boy” from Colorado, since I was anchoring the coverage last Thursday for FBN.  What a crazy ride, and then to find out it was all a hoax?  I will let the Fort Collins Sheriff do his work, but if it was a hoax, can I have my hour of live television back?

    On to Best Guess….

TOM SULLIVAN: Banks have no reason to lend because the government is not only paying them to invest in Treasuries (rather than invest in loans) but also because they still have enormous amounts of bad loans on their books.  They don’t want to lend until they get their loan portfolio cleaned up and that could take five years, minimum.

ADAM SHAPIRO: GE Sells NBC to Comcast…..deal is done by years end.

BRIAN SULLIVAN: Angels over Yankees in 6 games.

JOHN RYDING: Dow will see 11,000 before it sees 9,000.  Recovery may not be generating jobs but global economic recovery and weaker dollar likely to buoy cyclical profit margins.  See the market as broadly fairly valued and some upside potential as U.S. profit margins recover.

CHERYL CASONE: Balloon boy and his family will face a barrage of civil suits from people who will claim “emotional distress” from watching the live coverage of the runaway contraption.
