    For Food and Wine Lovers

    I usually try to keep this blog to business, investing, and personal finance.  But I’m sitting here at Fox HQ waiting to do a hit with Shepard Smith about the U.S. economy and all I can think about is food.  Specifically, a lobster that has been pressed.   

    I spent a week in France in July for my birthday and we spent a few nights in Bordeaux waiting for the Tour de France to arrive.  We stayed at The Grand Regent Bordeaux which is famous in France.  (It was the spot where Parliament member Victor Hugo made his declaration “if we do not want any more wars to be waged in Europe, then together we must build Europe.”)

    French mogul Michel Ohayon bought the hotel back in 1999 and bought several surrounding buildings to restore it. It’s now a favorite of celebrities, politicians, and the insanely wealthy.  (Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise were there during our stay for a movie premiere, and I’m sure some Tour de France members made themselves comfortable there as well.)

    But my favorite part of my stay was the restaurant:  Le Pressoir d’Argent.  I am NOT a foodie, but Executive Chef Pascal Nivaudeau owns one of only five lobster press machines in the world.  I took pictures because I was so impressed, and on a Friday evening in August when market volume is light, I can’t stop thinking of the great meal we had.

    I am looking to do some investigative work on the new crop of Bordeaux reds that are just hitting the auction block.  I’ve reached out to Christie’s here in New York so stay tuned to FBN at 12ET.

I have to strongly agree with Wayne Rogers' frustrations each week about being constantly interrupted while speaking. PLEASE do something to get the other panel members to respect each other's right to voice an opinion without all the clamour! Of the 4 business shows on Sat am, this is my LEAST FAVORITE for exactly this reason! Thanks.

Wow! That hotel is fabulous! I downloaded a copy of the wine list and menu from Le Pressoir d'Argent - you had a GREAT time! We have close to 100 wineries in Missouri, and our oak barrel production for wine and spirits is famous worldwide. In fact, I'll going to wine country for a balloon race on Saturday - my group will drink their share of the local vins rouges and vins blancs!!! Cheryl - thanks for the information,and keep us posted on the wine auction. Lobster press - a pressure cooker?
