    Best Guess: Sarah Palin Edition

This morning I gave a speech at Pfizer's New York headquarters for the Contingency Planning Exchange. It is a great group that I addressed last year, and I was struck by how different things were just one year ago when I first gave their keynote.  We were in the middle of a financial crisis, the election was upon us, and investment banks were dropping one after the other.  This group tries to plan for corporations in the case of disaster, natural or financial, so it is always interesting.  Many of the questions from the floor were about China and the Dollar.  I kept thinking of Ben Bernanke and his comments about ... read more

    Best Guess: Jailbird Edition

Much of the show today was focused on the stunning insider trading charges surrounding Raj Rajaratnam and Galleon Group.  What was believed to be $20 million in profits is now $40 million.  It is actually easy for me to believe that this took place, but of course the courts will have to decide if the charges are true.  What I said today on the show is that rumors are rampant all the time on trading desks, and most of the time it ends up to be false information.  The difficult thing to prove legally is the malicious part of ... read more

    Best Guess: Election Night Edition

Update to this post......my best guess already proven wrong!  AP is calling Chris Christie the winner in New Jersey. It is Election Day for a few states and counties, and especially here in New York and New Jersey, it's shaping up to be a good dogfight!  Especially in New Jersey, it is too tough to say at this moment who will win, but we took our Best Guess on a little politics, a bit of monetary policy, and ratings agencies.... CC TOM SULLIVAN: Rating companies have knocked a couple of small European currencies lower ... read more

    High Noon on Fox Business

As this country faces a fiscal disaster, we have had one of the most interesting ideas for a solution this week on Fox Business.  If you've been watching, we just wrapped our special series "High Noon": a look at the world of medical marijuana.  Both sides were represented in the debate.  We spoke with doctors, politicians, advocates, and patients.  As I look back on the coverage, I have formed opinions on the topic, and they are probably as controversial as the issue itself.  Should we legalize medical marijuana? I ... read more

    Best Guess: Yankees Edition

It would be better for me to paste the video and I will, but today's best guess was cut short thanks to Alexis jumping on the air with her New York Yankees jacket.  Tom pointed out it was ten sizes too big, but she looked great, and since I have no real baseball team loyalty, I'll root for the Yankees.  I did have to remind her however that our boss is a big Phillies fan.  Things are going to get interesting around the Fox Business Network offices. Today's Best Guess: ALEXIS GLICK: Just a matter of time until we’ll see ... read more
